This is one of the best value, most comfortable rubber strap line that I have ever tried. Made from FKM (Fluoroelastomer) which is a class of man-made rubber of great density but soft in touch, made to stand harsh conditions, such as high temperature, chemicals etc., it comes in 3 sizes (20, 22 and 24mm) and 6 colours (black, blue navy, brown, green, orange and red). Handsome dimensions at 95/125mm including the premium satin steel buckle and 4mm thickness at the lugs which tapers down to 3mm at the tail. Width-wise it tapers down by 2mm, so 20/18mm, 22/20mm and 24/22mm. Lots of great little details on these straps include the side-flaps by the buckle which give you the choice or securing the first keeper or not and also the ridged underside of the straps that is great for both use in water and for sweat/breathability in hot conditions or when working out. I should not forget to mention that these take quick-release spring bars and they come with a pair already fitted on them. Choose your colour and size and do not hesitate to contact me for any questions you might have.
Details on the FKM material: For those who don’t know, FKM stands for Fluoroelastomer, which is a class of man-made rubber of great density but soft in touch, made to stand harsh conditions, such as high temperature, chemicals etc. For example, this type of rubber is often used in aerospace and nautical industries, which speaks a lot about its quality. To name a few, some of the characteristics of this material are: excellent resistance to chemicals (oxidation, acids, fuels), astonishing temperature durability (from – 60°C to 225°C ), great stability in all weather conditions, long lasting etc. The material wass first developed by American company DuPont, under the brand name Viton®. The same company developed Neoprene™, which became so popular that it became common name for polychloroprene. The same often happens with Viton. Nowadays, there are many other producers of this valuable material. There are also variations of FKM, based on the polymers used.
