A classic and stunning dive alarm watch by Jaeger LeCoultre (Swiss), this Jumbo HPG Memovox has been professionally inspected in-house by Localtime but also by our watchmaker and is ready to wear or join your collection!.
The 43mm steel case (not counting either of the 2 the logoed crowns at 2h or 4h) measures 49mm L2L, has a handsome thickness of 16mm and has been professionally cleaned, but not polished. It is in a lovely vintage condition and is a very classy looker on the wrist. The lumed grey dial (with silver inner alarm dial-disc), hands and indices are simply classy and the lume still glows a bit in the dark when light is applied (photo included). It is carrying the well-known and respected automatic JLC Cal. 916 (also referred to as the “Speedbeat” movement as it featured a 28,800 A/h oscillation for greater accuracy) with HPG designations (High Precision Guarantee) and is wearing its original and logoed NSA steel bracelet which wears very comfortably on my 7 1/2″ wrist (it is actually a little too long for my wrist so I would say it could fit up to an 8-inch wrist). The ‘E’ designation on its E 870 reference stands for ‘Etanche’, a French word meaning the watch case is a water-resistant model. Condition-wise, the watch is impeccable for its age. Do notice that there are some scratches on the flat glass that we decided to not polish away so as to retain the original integrity of the watch. The dial is really one of the best in the market, with all script very sharp and largely intact and still active lume. There is no box or papers included with the watch. We do not know its service history, but both on the time-grapher and wrist the watch run well and kept good time. The last 3 photos we included are from the JLC website, for information purposes. As with all the watches we handle in-house, the listed price includes a 3-month written warranty from the time of purchase. Do not hesitate to contact us for any further information you might need.
Important Note: Sometimes I am asked what I exactly mean with ‘professionally inspected by Localtime’. Here is my theory on vintage watches: as a purveyor of vintage watches, my effort is to always do only what is needed to the watch. I do not buy ‘junk’ watches to resell. I am choosy with my purchases and always sell watches that are, to my knowledge, authentic and in good condition. I first inspect the watch, both visually (cosmetically) and then mechanically. If I judge that the watch is not yet in need of a full service then I do not put the watch through a service which, by the way, entails a lot of risks too. Instead, I give it what I call my ‘Spa’ treatment which will include a cleaning, changing of gaskets, oiling, lubricating and mechanical testing. If the plexi is heavily scratched or discoloured and it can not be cleaned, I change it. If the crown is wrong or worn, I also change it. Now, if the watch is in need of a full service, then my ‘professionally inspected’ description becomes ‘professionally serviced’. In both cases, I mention what has been changed (if anything) on the watch and I include a written warranty with my listed price.
Important Note On Straps/Bracelets: The straps I use on my watches (leather, canvas, suede, rubber) are always brand new, unless otherwise mentioned and, in most cases, I also sell them separately in my store, in different colours and sizes. In the case of metal bracelets, if the watch is NOS, the bracelet is also unused. If the watch is pre-owned with its original bracelet, then the bracelet is also pre-owned, unless otherwise mentioned. Either way, if in doubt, please ask.
