A lovely and exquisite example of an Omega Constellation Chronometer dress watch with model Ref. CD 168.004 carrying the Omega 24j automatic Cal. 561 [which is adjusted in 5 positions plus temperature] and a beautiful white dial, with date window at 3h. This is in an all original and lovely condition, ready to wear or join your collection. It has been professionally cleaned, inspected and tested in-house here at Localtime.
There is really nothing specific to mention, this is a very clean watch. Serial number #24502590 places its production in 1966. It is wearing a great quality dark green strap that I personally think fits the watch quite nicely. I have made many photos, including some macro shots, just for fun but also to allow you to enjoy the lovely details on this classic timepiece. For those that are not familiar with these Constellation cases, the top part is a solid gold ‘cap’ and the caseback is steinless steel, bearing the observatory image in gold again.
As with all the watches we handle at Localtime, the BIN price includes a 6-month written warrantee from the date of purchase. Feel free to ask me whatever clarifications you might need.
Important Note: Sometimes I am asked what I exactly mean with ‘professionally inspected by Localtime’. Here is my theory on vintage watches: as a purveyor of vintage watches, my effort is to always do only what is needed to the watch. I do not buy ‘junk’ watches to resell. I am choosy with my purchases and always sell watches that are, to my knowledge, authentic and in good condition. I first inspect the watch, both visually (cosmetically) and then mechanically. If I judge that the watch is not yet in need of a full service then I do not put the watch through a service which, by the way, entails a lot of risks too. Instead, I give it what I call my ‘Spa’ treatment which will include a cleaning, changing of gaskets, oiling, lubricating and mechanical testing. If the plexi is heavily scratched or discoloured and it can not be cleaned, I change it. If the crown is wrong or worn, I also change it. Now, if the watch is in need of a full service, then my ‘professionally inspected’ description becomes ‘professionally serviced’. In both cases, I include a written warrantee with my buy it now price and I always describe what I have changed, if anything, on the watch.
Extra: Try my Localtime Cordura Canvas straps! Very excited about this new line of straps that I decided to carry. High quality Cordura canvas in 8 colours [black, blue, brown, khaki, green, orange, red and yellow] and 4 sizes [18-20-22-24mm with a 2mm tapering] with ‘Lorica’ waterproof liner, Italian-made. The length is 90mm including the steel buckle by 120mm on the tail side. Thickness-wise, they start at approximately 4mm and thin down to 3mm. They have two ring-holders: a fixed one and a semi-floating one with fabric ‘belt’ to hold the tail, for a safer and more comfortable fit. They will be a very welcomed upgrade to the either ‘naked’ canvas [no liner] or the calf-lined canvas which are considered of a ‘simpler’ quality. A pair of good quality spring bars will accompany each strap. Feel free to contact me for whatever questions you might have.I sell these separately in my eBay store under eBay item number 401496392712.
