A beautiful example of a classic ROTARY ‘Aquaplunge’ Super Waterproof diver watch that has been professionally inspected by Localtime.
The case has not been polished, houses a 21j automatic AS Cal. 1700/01 with date at 3h and measures in at 35mm [36mm at the bezel] or 41mm including the crown at 3h. The stunning 12h/24h black dial, bi-directional bezel, domed plexi, wonderful lume and hands are stunning. It is wearing a NOS tropic-style strap in black that in my humble opinion, compliments the watch quite nicely. I have included many photos, including some closeup snapshots I took just for fun, to allow you to enjoy the lovely details of this fine timepiece.
As with all the watches that are handled by Localtime, the BIN price includes a written 6-month written warrantee from the date of purchase. Feel free to contact me for whatever questions you might have.
Important Note: Sometimes I am asked what I exactly mean with ‘professionally inspected by Localtime’. Here is my theory on vintage watches: as a purveyor of vintage watches, my effort is to always do only what is needed to the watch. I do not buy ‘junk’ watches to resell. I am choosy with my purchases and always sell watches that are, to my knowledge, authentic and in good condition. I first inspect the watch, both visually (cosmetically) and then mechanically. If I judge that the watch is not yet in need of a full service then I do not put the watch through a service which, by the way, entails a lot of risks too. Instead, I give it what I call my ‘Spa’ treatment which will include a cleaning, changing of gaskets, oiling, lubricating and mechanical testing. If the plexi is heavily scratched or discoloured and it can not be cleaned, I change it. If the crown is wrong or worn, I also change it. Now, if the watch is in need of a full service, then my ‘professionally inspected’ description becomes ‘professionally serviced’. In both cases, I include a written warrantee with my buy it now price and I always describe what I have changed, if anything, on the watch.
EXTRA! Check out the Localtime Tropic rubber straps: Let’s face it, we all wish we could use the vintage, original type, but they are nowhere to be found anymore. If you do find them, they are very expensive or dry and stiff if they were not properly kept all these years. Not to mention the fact that 22 & 24mm are really rare as hen teeth. I have found these straps to be a good alternative to the vintage tropic straps and very comfortable. They come in 4 sizes [18-20-22-24mm] and with 2 smooth, floating keepers. The straps themselves are black and have a nice tropic pattern on them. Their length is 85mm on the buckle end [including the steel buckle] and 120mm on the tail end; so not short but not too long either. I have included many photos when you scroll down, so you can get a better idea of what you are ordering. I will include a pair of good quality speed pins too. Feel free to contact me for whatever questions you might have. You can see them in the last photo here and they can be purchased separately from my eBay store under eBay item number 132475721565.Share this watch:
