“Since its introduction in 2019, the watch that descends from Ollech & Wajs famous 1960s Precision Caribbean 1000, has become one of the most popular of the modern collection. It now becomes the first existing model to receive a major update, though appropriately, the most significant modification is beneath the surface. The ETA 2824-2 movement will be replaced with OW’s bespoke Soprod Newton Precision P092 automatic calibre. Since this formidable movement came into our line up two years ago, it has been a resounding success and praise from customers has been emphatic, with many claiming it is simply the most accurate movement they have ever owned. It should come as no surprise, not only is the Soprod calibre independently tested for dependability and durability at the internationally renown Laboratoire Dubois in Chaux-de-Fonds, it was also subjected to OW’s own stringent testing program. Of the 9 movements, from 8 different Swiss manufacturers, evaluated, the Soprod Newton outperformed them all. There are also subtle upgrades to the watch face designed to improve visibility. Improved Super-LumiNova® has been applied to the hands and the triangular markers at 12, 3 and 9 which have also been made cream rather than pale green as previously. The black date wheel becomes white in keeping with the aesthetic of early OW dive watches and also to enhance readability. To mark the optimisation of a modern OW legend, the MkII C-1000 comes with a striking monochromatic RAF style nylon band. The thin white line woven through the strap symbolises the static line used by free-divers to guide their decent and accent to and from the darkness. The band is finished with an engraved OWZ thorn style buckle and stainless steel keepers The new C-1000 is now available to pre-order on black rubber ‘Expedition’ strap or on BOR Stainless Steel bracelet. Both versions come with a complimentary RAF band.”
