It is no surprise that genuine Lama-grain calf leather straps have many fans who appreciate their classic look, supple feel and smooth comfort. If you have not yet had the opportunity to try Lama-grain leather straps, you will not be disappointed. They come in 3 classic colours (with contrasting stitching) and 3 sizes. They taper as follows: 18/16mm, 20/16mm and 22/18mm. Their length is approximately 85/120mm including the steel buckle and they are 3mm thick at the lug-side and 2.00mm thick at the tail and buckle side. What is Lama leather? Despite its name, lama is still a calf leather. The pattern of the skin is produced by shrinking this material during the tanning process. Tumbled leather is generally top grain leather that has been spun in a machine with a bunch of small stones. This process loosens the fibres, brings out the leather’s natural grain and gives it a soft, semi-sheen surface.
